XAMPP looks to be an excellent alternative to consider if you need to install Apache, PHP, MySQL, and Perl. It's a free file that installs and configures the software on Linux, Windows, and Solaris.
Two days ago, i installed it, and it is a very easy to install Apache Distribution for Linux, Solaris, Windows and Mac OS X. The package includes the Apache web server, MySQL, PHP, Perl, a FTP server and phpMyAdmin.
